Most laser hair removal devices use only one of two wavelengths to target your hair follicle: either the Alexandrite wavelength or the Nd:YAG wavelength. Laser Hair Removal Pre & Post Care

Before:

Do:

  • Shave the area 12 to 24 hours before your laser hair removal session.

  • Keep skin clean and moisturized.

  • Discuss any medications with your treatment provider.

  • Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater.

Don’t:

  • Don’t expose the treatment area to UV light.

  • Don’t apply harsh lotions, perfumes, or other products.

  • Don’t wax, tweeze, or pluck your hair.

  • Don’t undergo any harsh skincare treatments prior to your laser hair removal appointment.

After:

Do:

  • Apply a cool compress if you have any discomfort, swelling, or irritation.

  • Use a gentle moisturizer.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

  • Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater.

Don’t:

  • Avoid hot showers or baths for a couple days.

  • Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or at the beach.

  • Avoid prolonged UV / sun exposure.

  • Avoid strenuous exercising and heat.

  • Avoid harsh skincare products and treatments.
